Doncic, Irving Combine for 63 to Lead Mavs in Game 1 Win
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving struck a lethal shot making blow that put the Dallas Mavericks in the driver's seat after Game 1 of their Western Conference playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The two lethal shot makers combined for 63 points as the Mavericks beat the Timberwolves 108-105 Wednesday night at the Target Center.
Doncic led the way with 35 points and Irving added 28 points.
The Mavericks were able to hold off a late rally by the Timberwolves, who cut the lead to 106-105 with just over a minute remaining.
But Doncic hit a clutch jumper with 42.8 seconds left to give the Mavericks a 108-105 lead.
The Timberwolves had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds, but Anthony Edwards' three-point attempt was off the mark.
Game 2 of the series is set for Friday night in Minneapolis.
